Call for Papers: Caribbean International Relations in the Twenty-first Century
In the post-Cold War, post-911 era, Caribbean International Relations is at a crossroads. In the backyard of the world’s superpower, the Caribbean must constantly confront the ebbs and flows of US economic and political policy. Additionally, the area must deal with: the continual expansion of NAFTA into the Americas, the advent of the Caribbean Single Market (CARICOM), changes in the terms of trade through the WTO, attempts for debt restructuring with international financial institutions and donor countries, the United States’ war on terror, the continuing war on drugs and human trafficking, as well as the proliferation of non-state actors, and health and environmental issues.
In light of these concerns, we are seeking original scholarly articles from a broad range of theoretical and methodological frameworks for this edited volume. The purpose of this book is to present innovative research that explores the changing nature of international politics and the scope of contemporary Caribbean international relations. We seek papers that include, but are not limited to these topics. We are also interested in papers that explore other North-South, South-South and inter-regional relations.
Please send a one-page abstract and a brief CV no later than December 1, 2006 to stacwil@gmail.com, with “Caribbean IR” in the subject line. Invited papers are due April 30, 2007.
