Confirmed Keynote Speakers:
Serge Doubrovsky

Professor Jean-Pierre Boulé
Serge Doubrovsky’s significance within the field of life writing is widely recognised throughout the world. He is acknowledged in both the Larousse and Robert French dictionaries for coining the term ‘autofiction’, and has made a significant contribution to theorising this literary phenomenon. In addition, Doubrovsky’s own autofictional writings have achieved widespread recognition: in 1989 he was awarded the ‘Prix Médicis’ for Le Livre Brisé and in 1999, the ‘Prix de l’écrit intime’ for Laissé pour Conte. All seven of his life writing texts continue to stimulate a rich vein of scholarly interest around the world.
The ‘Serge Doubrovsky One-Day Conference’ is the first event in the newly formed ‘Leicester Life Writing Series’, and we are pleased to confirm that Serge Doubrovsky himself will be participating. Keynote addresses will be given by Professor Michael Sheringham, Professor Keith Reader and Professor Jean-Pierre Boulé. Proposals are now invited for 30-minute conference papers on topics relating to any aspect of Serge Doubrovsky’s work. Participants are encouraged to interpret this subject as widely and innovatively as they wish.
Please send abstracts of 250 words in English or French to the following address by 3rd November 2006. Participants will be notified of their acceptance by 13th November 2006.
