Oxford University Press is seeking qualified authors for a few entries for the forthcoming Oxford Encyclopedia of the Modern World. A complete list is below.

Oxford's ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THE MODERN WORLD will be published in 2008. There are eight area editors for the project; the editor in chief is Peter N. Stearns (George Mason University). The Encyclopedia will contain approximately 2.5 million words in about 2,500 articles, from 250 to 7,000 words long; each article will conclude with a bibliography and end-references. The volumes will be generously illustrated with photographs, drawings, and maps. The backmatter will include a comprehensive index. The Encyclopedia is intended for scholars, college and
university students, advance-placement high school students, and general readers; It will be part of Oxford's award-winning reference program, which includes Hillerbrand: The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Reformation; Kors: Encyclopedia of the Enlightenment; and Mokyr, The Oxford Encyclopedia of Economic History.
Authors will be paid 10 cents per word, or $100 for every 1000 words.
