The African Diaspora Film Festival celebrates the richness and diversity of the global Black experience through films – shorts and features, dramas, documentaries, classics and new releases – that all highlight the multifaceted lives of people from Africa and of African descent in North and Sub Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, North and South America, and Europe. Featuring over 70 films from over 25 countries, the festival provides a multitude of opportunities from the discovery of the best in recent film making from Africa and the African Diaspora to sharing a communal experience with a diverse New York City audience while attending festival public film screenings, and much more. Credit students are required to view the 5 films in the School Program section (M-F at 12 noon), attend at least 5 additional screenings during the festival, attend the Seminar and Panel Discussions and write a reaction paper. Students will be graded on a pass/fail basis.
