The Workshop provided an encounter between, and facilitated debate among, members of a study group of Israeli scholars currently working on the subject of "Body, Technology, Society" at the Minerva Institute for German History (Tel Aviv University), and American scholars whose work pertains to this topic.
The workshop dealt with various aspects of material culture in Germany prior to the Second World War, such as sound, prostheses, department stores and railways, as well as the textual and visual representation of the human body and technology in German novels, films and academic texts.
