I am organizing one, and possibly, two sessions on invasive species for the American Society for Environmental History (ASEH) meetings next March (2007) in Baton Rouge, LA. I invite potential presenters to contact me with proposed topics. One session will be devoted to papers on the American South, the second could be on other regions. While the main focus will be on invasive and exotic biotics, papers on broader issues involving cultural, political, and ethnic “aliens” or ideas and ideologies deemed “alien” in the America South and their intersections with discourses and practices concerning alien biotic species would be particularly welcomed.
As the deadline for submitting paper proposals is July 1, I will need to hear from potential presenters quickly.
