Akbar Ahmed, whom the BBC has called the world’s leading authority on Islam, reports on his recent extensive trip through the Muslim world which he conducted for the Brookings Institute, the Pew Center, and American University. While traveling, he spoke at universities, mosques, and madrasses and interviewed a range of people including clerics, scholars, and figures like Pakistan’s president, Gen. Pervez Musharraf.
