The International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) will hold its seventh biennial meeting in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 9-13 July 2007, hosted by the University of Sarajevo's Institute for Research into Crimes against Humanity and International Law. Professor Smail Cekic, Director of the Institute, will serve as Local Conference Chair.
Papers on all aspects of genocide and genocidal violence are welcome, as are proposals for thematic panels. Of particular interest are paper and panel proposals on genocidal violence in the former Yugoslavia, early warning signs of genocide, prevention of genocide, the aftermath of genocide, genocide in comparative perspective, and genocidal aspects of contemporary terrorism. For paper proposals, please send abstracts (350 words maximum) and biographical information on the presenter(s) to Professor Greg Stanton, First Vice-President of IAGS and Conference Director, at iagsvp@aol.com. For suggested thematic panels, please also contact Professor Stanton.
All proposals should be submitted by 15 February 2007 and will be refereed by the Program Committee. Proposals for panels should have a consistent theme to which each paper is related. The Program Committee may suggest changes in panels, subject to approval by the convener of the panel.
Please note that only paid members of IAGS may present papers.
For information on membership, please contact the IAGS Secretary-Treasurer, Professor Steven Jacobs, at: sjacobs@bama.ua.edu.
