An online discussion group has just been founded for the discussion of the widely acclaim television series “The Western Tradition” produced by Annenberg Media and lectured by the highly esteemed professor of history, Eugen Weber. Perhaps you have seen this show on PBS.
This show is available free via the internet at:
http://www.learner.org/resources/series58.html
There is a onetime simple set up with Annenberg to get the videos on demand. It is all free.
The discussion group is on MySpace and you need a simple free account with them to participate in the discussions.

The discussion group’s board is at the following URL:

Each week we will look into one of the 25 minute videos and make comments and observations. This will be beneficial to teachers needing to get reacquainted with the curriculum of Western History. The videos can also be purchased for use in the classroom.
MySpace has received a lot of bad press recently. But with 70,000,000 people, you are bound to get a few bad apples. It is by far the best medium to conduct such a project. MySpace isn’t just for the kids; you need to jump on the technological bandwagon as well.
This discussion group might lead you to rethink your own way of doing business in the classroom and how to communicate curriculum more efficiently with the use of technology.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to write to me.
Please join us.
