How can cultural studies be integrated in academic programs/courses in teacher education? How can teachers apply such knowledge in their teaching practices in a variety of subject/content areas? The primary goal of this workshop is to expose in-service and pre-service teachers to both theoretical and practical applications of cultural studies as a project of cultural particularism, including but not limited to geographies of cultural difference and cultural politics. The workshop, organized by the Film and Education Academy focuses on the use of popular culture (especially movies, documentary film, music, and popular literature) to address the related dilemmas of youth in our time that affect their everyday life in classrooms.
