I am organzing a panel session to be presented at the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, to be held September 27-October 1 in Atlanta, GA. The conference theme is "Celebrating Community: A Tribute to Black Fraternal, Social and Civil Institutions." While the theme focuses on black institutional life, I welcome submissions on any aspect of nineteenth century black protest tradition.
To propose an individual paper, please send a 1-2 page abstract and one-page c.v. to: Germaine Etienne, Southern Illinois University, History Department, 1000 Faner Drive, Carbondale, IL 62901; or you may submit your information by e-mail at getienne@siu.edu
