The Nineteenth-Century Forum at Temple University seeks papers for its first interdisciplinary graduate student conference. Proposals are invited for 15-20 minute presentations that consider reproduction in the nineteenth century, broadly construed. Topics might include but are not limited to:
Birth, maternity, obstetrics, contraception, children
Evolution, population, race, cultural anthropology
Inheritance, class, empire
Photography, early cinema, painting, and other visual arts
Mass production, printing technology, book history, print culture, copyright
Realism, sensation, auto/biography,
20th- and 21st-c. adaptations of 19th-c. literature or culture
