Hello. I am looking for one or two fellow panelists for the Great Lakes History Conference in Grand Rapids, MI on October 20-21, 2006. The theme of the conference is New Perspectives on War and Society. My paper will examine the American Red Cross in Italy during World War I. Specifically, I explore the context of war as a period of upheaval which offers foreign nongovernmental organizations an opportunity to impose their home nation's ideologies and social structures. I welcome panelists working on the politics of wartime or postwar reconstruction by foreign agencies, in any conflict. Please contact me by email before May 1. I will need a 200 word abstract as well as a CV, which I will then put together and send to the conference organizers. Thanks very much!
