Symposium “Microlandscapes - Landscape Culture on the Move”
Westphalian State Museum of Art and Cultural History Muenster
11. - 13. May 2006
Landscape did not disappear in consequence of global mobility and acceleration. But changing modes of movement are giving rise to new landscape concepts. Tourism, world wide web or migration influence contemporary „microlandscapes“ in terms of culture, ecology, aesthetics and politics.
Focussing the dynamics of landscape concepts the symposium opens up a forum for the visual and performing arts, film, landscape architecture and theory.
The symposium is organized by the Centre of Garden Art and Landscape Architecture CGL at the University of Hanover, the Westphalian State Museum of Art and Cultural History Muenster and the City of Muenster, Office of Green Space and Environmental Protection. It is part of the research project “Microlandscapes - Landscape Culture on the Move” funded by the Volkswagen Foundation and directed by Stefanie Krebs and Brigitte Franzen.
