The minitrack focuses on knowledge management approaches for large multidisciplinary research projects. We invite paper proposals that introduce, develop, and/or employ knowledge management theories and techniques that focus on multidisciplinary scientific practice. We hope to cater for a broad problem scope, with topics ranging from conceptual models to communication systems, from organisational approaches to cognitivist interventions. Papers reporting on empirical case studies of (un)successful interdisciplinary are welcome, provided that the case(s) presented are elaborated and discussed using a sound analytical case frame.
Possible paper topics include, but are not limited to:
* Methods and tools:
- Ontology construction and other approaches to mapping and comparing disciplinary knowledge
- Boundary objects and processes to enhance cross-disciplinary exchange
* Behavioural aspects:
- Knowledge transfer and sharing behaviours within and across scientific disciplines
- Strategic actor behaviour in large (international) multidisciplinary research projects
* Empirical case studies:
- Case studies of interdisciplinary knowledge management in R&D units and other organisational contexts
- Case studies and (comparative) analyses of success and failure in multidisciplinary research projects
* Success factors and performance indicators:
- Social and organisational structures and mechanisms affecting interdisciplinarity
- Frameworks and models for assessing interdisciplinarity
Important deadlines:
March 31 (OPTIONAL!) Abstracts deadline
June 15 Full-paper submission deadline
August 15 Notification of paper acceptance / rejection
