Property, usage, images and ideas of land were and are crucial to all societies around the globe. In five sessions titled "land and law", "land and war", "land and economies", "land and politics" as well as "land and cultures" different aspects of perceptions of land/landscape/space/soil/nature in European and non-European societies will be presented, discussed, and compared. Proposals for papers related to these topics are welcome. Anyone interested especially young historians, art historians, or specialists in literature and sociology should submit a 500 word abstract with a brief curriculum vitae either by mail or email.
Deadline for proposals is June 30th, 2006.
