Environment and Culture Area of the 2006 Mid-Atlantic Popular/American Culture Association (MAPACA) conference calls for papers that discuss the environment within the context of popular culture. Papers from all historical periods are invited, and papers from graduate students are especially encouraged. Panels of 3-4 presenters are also welcome.
Appropriate topics include, but are not limited to:
contemporary environmental crises
environmental history
environmental philosophy
natural history
land use and abuse
studies of particular environments
nature and culture
urban and suburban environments.
Conference takes place in Baltimore, Maryland October 26-28, 2006. Send abstract or proposal of 200 to 250 words along with AV requests to bcrane50@aol.com.
