Symposium on Herbert Cardinal Vaughn, London, 19th century England and America by John Rooney, MHM.

Symposium: Herbert Alfred Cardinal Vaughn of 19th Century London founded the Mill Hill Missionary Society which came to the US as the Bishops request to minister to Freed Slaves; The Josephite Fathers are the American offshoot of this action who took the evangelical responsibility in 1873 and continue today. John Rooney, MHM, will discuss Vaughn's influence on education with its effect on the American Catholic Church and the welfare of the black population particularly in the South. Three talks begining at 10:00 A.M. throught 3:00 P.M. with lunch. Archivists are especially welcome.
