The Ethnographic Thesaurus (ET), a comprehensive controlled list of subject terms to be used in describing ethnographic and ethnological research collections, is a cooperative project of the American Folklore Society and the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress currently in its second year of development. Support for the project is provided through a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to develop a thesaurus that folklorists, ethnomusicologists, archivists, librarians, and researchers of all kinds can use to classify cultural information. An advisory board oversees the ET staff of four that includes a lexicographer, two subjects specialists, and a database manager.
