“Dissent in America”: Nov 6-8, 2006. The American Studies Program at the American University in Cairo invites proposals (max. 250 words) for papers or panels on the topic of dissent in American history, politics, culture, literature, and life from any discipline and point of view. Some appropriate topics might include: American revolution(s); anti-war protests; literary dissenters (authors, characters, literary modes); civil-rights protest; voting (or not voting); democracy and dissent; dissent and political parties; religious dissent. The deadline for receipt of proposals is April 30th, 2006. Send proposals to amstud@aucegypt.edu.
