Dear colleagues,
I am pleased to announce the release of the 6th edition of "Nuevo Mundo-Mundos Nuevos", a multilingual periodical of the Centre de Recherches sur les Mondes Américains(CERMA). This publication has been conceived as an "evolutive" e-journal, profiting from web publishing developments for granting dynamic to its contents, by periodically updating them by adding new articles and critic responses. It is also a DOAJ approved e-journal, which assures visitors open access to articles including those published in previous issues.
This year's outgoing number covers a large variety of subjects and periods: Colonial Latin America (Cacao trade in Veracruz, a "Residencia trial" in Ecuador.), articles on anthropological and ethnological topics (the problem of categorizing subaltern groups in Latin America, music and miscegenation: Black Caribbeans Afro-Indian musical ancestry, Brazil's colored musicians, profane celebrations in Colonial Venezuela), texts on current political and social issues (Latin Americans' perception of last fall's urban riots in France, Venezuela's Armed Forces and the "Bolivarian Revolution"), a major dossier about Cultural History in Brazil, and working papers from the following workshops: "Le Paraguay à l'ombre de ses guerres" (Paris,Nov.2005), "Feather Creations" (New York, June 2004), and "La route de Naples et les Indes occidentals" (Paris, Dec.2004). In this issue you will also be able to find the usual sections of Bibliography listings by topic, Book and Website reviews, Virtual exhibitions, etc.
For further information on "Nuevo Mundo-Mundos Nuevos", and how to submit articles and other materials, you may visit the e-journal's homepage at: http://nuevomundo.revues.org
