I am looking for companion papers for a panel proposal for the 2007 AHA Annual Meeting. My paper is on the religious dimensions of vigilante violence and lynching in the American South in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Its scope, however, is Atlantic World culture, and considers how cultural forces in Europe shaped traditions in North America. I am interested in virtually any papers that explore religion and violence in the Atlantic World context, from any period post-1492.
