We are currently organizing a panel on religion and politics for the 2006 Social Science History Association conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and are in need of a chair/commentator. Scholars from outside the discipline of history are preferred, though historians will be considered. Paper topics from the panel include the United States school prayer debates of the 1970s, the relationship between religous and political leaders in late nineteenth-century Chile, the youth organization of a Catholic political party during Spain's Second Republic, and a Latin American Catholic political group (Tradition, Family and Property).
