Greetings. I am looking to put a panel together for the upcoming Great Lakes History Conference in Grand Rapids, MI on October 20-21, 2006. The theme of the conference is New Perspectives on War and Society. I am looking for two other panelists who would like to contribute based on the topic of trauma inflicted via war. My paper will deal with a Civil War figure who utilized memory construction and charitable endeavors to combat symptoms of PTSD. Any papers that deal with how individuals or a community dealt with the traumatic experience of war (any American conflict or just Civil War) would be an ideal fit. Please contact me via email before May 1. I will need a 200 word abstract as well as a CV, which I will then put together and send to the conference organizers. For more information on the meeting, see http//www.h-net.msu.edu/announce/show.cgi?ID=149096 Thank you for your time!
