The Rio Bravo Association solicits paper proposals for its meeting on May 2-3, 2006 at Texas A&M International University, Laredo, Texas.
The Rio Bravo Association consists of scholars from Texas and the four northeastern Mexican states interested in Rio Grande borderland issues. Scholars include, but are not limited to those from fields such as anthropology, economics, education, history, geography, political science, language, literature, sociology, engineering, architecture and urban design.
The theme for the 17th Annual Meeting is "Global Forces/ Local Circumstances in the Borderlands."
Proposals may be for individual papers or panels. For each proposal, please submit an abstract of 250 to 500 words, indicating the title, thesis, and findings (when appropriate) of the paper. Presentations should be limited to twenty minutes in length. Also, please submit a brief CV for each participant.
The proposal deadline is (emailed or postmarked by) March 3, 2006.
