Paradoxically, the eugenics movement was driven underground in the late 1960s - precisely during a period of explosive growth in our understanding of genetics. With the major search engines showing upwards of 1,700,000 eugenics articles, the eugenics movement has now again come into its own. www.whatwemaybe.org is devoted to John Glad's free online book "Future Human Evolution: Eugenics in the 21st Century," which presents the science, history, and politics of the eugenics movement - both historical and its current renaissance.
The discussion is couched within the framework of the environmental movement (human ecology) and the human-rights movement - in this case the rights of future generations and our responsibility to them. Professsor Glad is the former Director of the Kennan Institute for Advanced Russian Studies in the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. Preface by Professor Seymour Itzkoff of Smith College
