I am seeking three panelists for a session at the 2006 Social Science History Association conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The proposed session deals with the interplay of politics and religion. My own paper is a study of the youth organization of a Catholic political movement in Spain’s Second Republic (1931-1936). It will discuss themes relating to the development of mass politics in contemporary Europe and the emergence of European Christian Democrat movements. Papers from all time periods and geographic areas that deal broadly with the theme of religion and politics are welcome. Also, submissions from all disciplines are encouraged, in order to keep with the SSHA tradition of representing more than one discipline in the panel.
Please send abstracts or questions to spier@ufl.edu.
