We are seeking contributors for an edited book on Reconstruction, which is under contract with ABC-Clio as part of its American Social History Series (series editor: Peter Mancall). The series is aimed principally at undergraduate students and each volume will consist of “lively and anecdotal” chapters of 5,000 – 7,500 words that are structured around different social groups. In addition, each book will contain an introduction, chronology, primary documents, glossary, and annotated bibliography.
The following Reconstruction chapter titles are currently unassigned:
1. African American Women
2. Former Slaveholders
3. White Women
4. Poor Whites
5. Northerners in the South
6. Southern Republicans
7. Native Americans
