Arc Boutant Historic Preservation Program continues its summer hands-on preservation course in the Sassi (cave structures, UNESCO World Heritage Monument) of Matera, Italy. The program is organized in collaboration with the Italian historic preservation office.
The program will take place July 14-28, 2006. Through cultural immersion in this remote yet cosmopolitan southern Italian city, the program approaches preservation through a historical, sociological, geographical, and anthropological study of the site as well as through investigation of technical issues of construction and conservation.
