The Documentary Tradition is the theme of the next Film and History League conference, 8 - 12 November, 2006. Details at www.filmandhistory.org
Film & History, the scholarly journal, will be working with the Film and History League to sponsor an international conference on DOCUMENTARY FILM as history and propaganda. This conference will attract both film scholars and cultural studies scholars; in addition, those interested in jumping into film study will profit from immersion at this event.

Guest Filmmakers: D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus, makers
of THE WAR ROOM (1993), the cinema verite study of the Clinton presidential campaign of 1992--as well as many other films about society, celebrity, and politics.
Special speakers: Ray Fielding, dean of newsreel scholars and
Betsy McLane, documentary diva. Both have new books to share in plenary sessions.
We anticipate at least 400 scholars for this event and a plethora of panels for the veteran and novice alike.
