Workshop for the History of Environment, Agriculture, Technology & Science (WHEATS 2006)
Oct 6-8, 2006, London, Ontario (Canada)
Following the success of previous meetings in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Charlottesville, Virginia, WHEATS 2006 will be held October 6-8 in London, Ontario. WHEATS is a workshop geared to new scholars (senior graduate students or recent PhDs) investigating the historical interactions of environment, agriculture, science, and technology. Papers are circulated in advance to all participants. At the meeting, authors make brief presentations and then receive feedback from fellow participants and senior scholars through informal discussion. The format is particularly suitable for the presentation of work in progress. In conjunction with the workshop, organizers are planning professional development activities of interest to junior scholars. Due to logistical constraints, papers must be in English.
Housing will be arranged by local participants. Some funding may be available to defray travel costs. Potential participants should submit a one-page abstract and short curriculum vitae by March 15, 2006. All submissions will be acknowledged by e-mail. Applicants should note their year of graduate study or PhD completion date. Accepted papers will be due August 25, 2006. For further information, contact William J. Turkel at wturkel@uwo.ca or visit the conference website:
