The early medieval period was a time of movement and change, but also of continuity. Religions in their various forms were spreading, through conquest and conversion, and political powers shifted and altered. Society and culture underwent changes as the two elements - victor and vanquished - interacted, and old practices and traditions mingled with new. Papers will relate to the phenomena of conquest, change and continuity.
