The 2006 West Point Summer Seminar in Military History offers Fellowships to 20 graduate scholars ( A.B.D. or higher)to attend a three week program from 30 May - 20 June at the United States Military Acacdemy at West Point, New York hosted by the Staff and Faculty of the USMA Department of History. West Point faculty lead the Fellows through a rigorous curriculum covering the latest pedagogic techniques, historiographical trends, and discussions in the field of military history. Seventeen well established military historians from prestigious academic institutions from across the nation appear as guest speakers to augment seminar instruction in their areas of expertise. Additional enrichments to the curriculum include staff ride visits to key American Revolutionary War sites and battlegrounds at West Point and Saratoga as well as to the Civil War Battlefields at Antietam and Gettysburg. New to the Semianr this year is a Current Policy Symposium highlighting historical aspects of insurgencies and nation-building / occupation missions and their utility in analyzing current policy issues.
