The Graduate Students' Association of the Department of Near & Middle Eastern Civilizations (NMCGSA), University of Toronto, Canada, is pleased to issue this CALL FOR PAPERS for our tenth annual Graduate Symposium.
This year's Symposium will be held in Toronto on March 2nd, 2006. The deadline for submissions is January 20th, 2006. The theme of this year's Symposium is 'Culture and Identity in the Near and Middle East (from ancient to modern times).
Our Symposium provides graduate students the opportunity to present original research in a conference-like forum, the proceedings of which are periodically published. Graduate students are invited to submit proposals outlining original research broadly defined by this year's theme, by providing a 150-word abstract via our online application site, email, mail or fax. The Symposium is generally a full day, followed by an informal reception. Each presentation is allotted twenty minutes, followed by a short question and answer period. Costs for travel and accommodation are not covered by the NMCGSA. Please direct any questions to our Symposium Coordinator.
