We are seeking presentations that explore relevant models of holistic and interdisciplinary centres of research and study. As well, proposals on areas of research that stimulate discussion on issues in Aboriginal Studies are welcomed. Areas include but are not restricted to: language, education, health, human services, science and technology, environment, history, oral history and justice. We especially desire papers that express and discuss critical approaches in Aboriginal Studies as well as those that demonstrate active participation in Aboriginal communities.
The goals of this conference are to:
• provide an opportunity for a community of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal researchers to share and advance our knowledge of Aboriginal issues.
• inform, strengthen and promote our collective incentive to achieve positive changes with respect to the current issues that affect Aboriginal communities in the north and throughout the world.
• advance the vision and development of UCN’s proposed Center for Aboriginal Studies and Research.
This conference will be hosted by the University College of the North in Thompson, Manitoba - May 2, 3, 2006.
