California University of Pennsylvania’s Women’s Studies Program is holding a two-day conference from March 23-24, 2006. Naomi Tutu will be our keynote speaker, and Dr. Bawa Yamba will give a luncheon presentation on the effects of AIDS on women in South Africa. Although we are going to examine the many facets of women’s lives in diverse cultural contexts, our focus will be on the ways in which women are placed in jeopardy. Our hope is to bring together scholars employing a variety of approaches to understand systems of patriarchy, inequality, and the experience of women around the world. We are especially interested in scholarship examining connections between the developed and the developing world. Therefore, we encourage contributions from scholars of diverse disciplines and all levels. Panel submissions and individual abstracts are welcome. Please address all queries, submissions, and abstracts to Dr. Andrae Marak / marak@cup.edu / Chair, Conference on Women at Risk/Department of History and Political Science/California University of Pennsylvania/California, PA 15419. The deadline is January 15, 2006.
