The Project was conceived of by artist and professor Sonya Clark. It is comprised of 4500 beaded amulets from participants from 35 countries. The beaded packets are responses to the African Diaspora practices known as gris gris, mojo, and pacquets de Congo. Each contains a secret wish or prayer that is bundled and beaded. It is a powerful collection witness with the eyes, mind and heart. The exhibit will be on view through January 8, 2006.
Come to the opening and add your piece to this expanding collection of collaborative art. "Into Something", a wonderful jazz trio will add to the event with their collaborative music. It is an event not to be missed.
