IN SEARCH OF THE PUBLIC; The Architecture of the Contemporary American City
This Conference will be held at Princeton University, School of Architecture on October 21 and 22, 2005. To register and for more information, please go to http://www.princeton.edu/~soa/amer_city/home.html.
The conference will center on the issue of Public spaces as the collective spaces of the city where interaction and exchange between people occur. The conference theme will be approached through three different topics: density, ownership and boundaries. A continuous thread throughout the conference will be the question of the relevance of architecture as a practice of programming and form making: how can architecture play an active role in the creation of new public spaces and therefore in the future of the American City?
