Dr. Becker has spent his entire career in research and administration at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, where he is now a Scientist Emeritus. He began research on chemical applications of NMR in 1956, a year after joining NIH. He has published several textbooks on NMR and has written on the history of the subject. He edited the historical volume of the Encyclopedia of NMR, published in 1995, and contributed to that volume a 150-page overview on the development of the field. He currently serves as chairman of CHF’s Heritage Council.
