Steven Hahn, winner of the 2004 Pulitzer Prize in History, will present a lecture that answers the question, "Can Slaves Practice Politics?" Hahn, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, will be in the Mitchell Auditorium on The University of Memphis on Thursday, October 27 at 7 pm. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Hahn's book, _A Nation Under our Feet_, won the Pulitzer and Bancroft prizes. The book describes how the African American community in slavery laid the basis for activism during and after the Civil War. You can read more about the book at http://www.hup.harvard.edu/catalog/HAHNAT.html
