7-8 April 2006. "Devotion Before Print," a conference hosted by the Program for Medieval Studies at The University of Chicago.
The purpose of the conference is to draw together scholars working in history, literature, music, theology and art on the problem of devotion as both experience and cultural construction. The plenary address will be given by Prof. Miri Rubin (Queen Mary, University of London).
Call for papers: one-page abstract of proposed twenty-minute papers on all topics relating to the problem of devotion in the period before the introduction of print. Papers are particularly invited on issues relating to the experience of prayer, the uses of music, and regional developments in Spain. Please send proposals in the body of an email by November 15, 2005.
