Call for Papers: Pacific Sociological Association: The Production & Reproduction of Hip-Hop Music and Culture
2006 PSA Meeting ¡V Hollywood ¡V Universal City Hilton, April 20-23 2006
Presentation proposals are now being accepted for the Production & Reproduction of Hip-Hop Music and Culture session of the 2006 Pacific Sociological Association meeting in Hollywood, CA, April 20th -23rd 2006. The session organizer seeks presentations from faculty and/or graduate students who are currently involved in research around Hip-Hop music and culture. All disciplines are welcome!
Potential topics could include but are not limited to:
Origins of Hip-Hop Culture & Music
Hip-Hop Music Industry
Construction of Meaning & Identity in Hip-Hop
Commercial Rap vs. Underground Hip-Hop
Representations of Race, Class, Gender and Sexuality in Hip-Hop
Authenticity in Hip-Hop and Rap performance
Please send presentation titles and abstracts of 200-250 words via mail or e-mail (e-mail is preferred) by November 4th 2005 to Michael Barnes at the addresses below. Make sure to include home department and institutional affiliation with your proposal.
