Dr. Rafis Abazov will talk about his book - 'Tajikistan (Cultures of the World series).' The talk will focus on contemporary cultural development in this country. The author uses real life examples from Tajikistan to illustrate broad changes in the cultural
landscape of the Central Asian region.

Dr. Rafis Abazov is an adjunct lecturer at SIPA and Harriman
Institute and he is also an author of the Historical Dictionary of Turkmenistan (Scarecrow Press, 2005) and Cultures and Customs of Central Asian Republics (forthcoming).
