The New York Metro American Studies Association (NYMASA) is proud to present the first Salon Talk of the Fall 2005 semester.
On Thursday September 29, from 6:30-8pm, Erica Chito Childs will be talking about her new book "Navigating Interracial Borders:Black-White Couples and Their Social Worlds" (Rutgers UP).
According to Eduardo Bonilla-Silva, Erica Childs’ book is a “pioneering project that thoroughly analyzes interracial marriage in contemporary America” A painstaking study of interracial relationships, "Navigating Interracial Borders" explores the social worlds of black-white interracial couples and examines the ways that collective attitudes shape private relationships.
Salon Talks are an intimate forum for discussion of new scholarship in American Studies. We will meet in the Graduate Student Lounge, room 5414, in the CUNY Graduate Center, 5th Avenue at 34th St. Refreshments will be served.
