'Poverty and Experience', a one day conference hosted by Edge Hill in conjunction with The Historic Society of Lancashire and Cheshire. This conference focuses on poverty and relief in nineteenth and early twentieth-century Lancashire, and includes papers on 'Sweated women workers in Liverpool, 1840-1914' (Dr. Sheila Blackburn), 'The Liverpool Central Relief and Charity Organisation Society' (Dr. Laurie Feehan)and 'Poverty in Edwardian and Wartime Bolton' (Dr. Roger Ryan).
The cost of the conference is £5.00 (to include refreshments in the morning and afternoon. Own arrangements for lunch). Please write to Dr. Alyson Brown and include a cheque for £5 made payable to Edge Hill Enterprises.
The closing date for applications is 31 October 2005.
