Work has begun on The Encyclopedia of African American History, to be co-edited by Professors Leslie Alexander and Walter Rucker and published by ABC-CLIO, Inc. Scheduled to appear in 2006, this three-volume encyclopedia will be part of an ongoing series on American ethnic history. Aimed at general audiences and college students, this project will include more than 700 alphabetically arranged entries divided into five major chronological and thematic sections. In addition, we also have an editorial board of distinguished scholars in the field of African American History.
If you are interested in contributing to this project, please send a brief C.V. to rucker.71@osu.edu. Once your participation is approved we will send, via email attachment, the entry list and writing guidelines. Completed entries will have deadlines ranging from October 15 to December 30, 2005. As is usually the case with reference works, compensation is limited to a modest honorarium or a copy of the published encyclopedia, depending on the number and length of entries.
We sincerely hope that you can contribute to this important project.
