The Encyclopedia of the African Diaspora is being produced by African-New World Studies and the Florida Black Studies Consortium for ABC-CLIO, Incorporated. The Encyclopedia will be an important resource and research tool in the field of African Diaspora Studies. Its purpose will be to advance knowledge of the African Diaspora experience within an increasingly global society.

Scope
The Encyclopedia of the African Diaspora will be international in reach, covering the five continents with documented African Diaspora communities. The Encyclopedia will provide a well-documented and readily accessible body of information about the most important historical, political, economic and cultural relations between people of African descent in the world community. Information on such a diverse group of people and wide ranging locations, across time and space, how they have impacted and been impacted by their environments, created and re-created cultural forms, movements is the focus of these two volumes.

Please consult our website for the entries available. We are requesting short entries ranging from a paragraph (minimum 250 words) to more extensive (1,000 – 2,000) word subject essays. Entries will be arranged according to Places (geography), People (personalities, ethnic groups, nations), Movements, Cultural Expressions and Forms, Historical Events, Organizations, Theories and Concepts in a straightforward A-Z order. Each entry will also provide cross-references.

Entries must include:
Original research;
A full covering of the field;
In-depth documentation;
Recent discoveries and theories;
List of recommended readings.
