We are looking for papers on the North America (U.S. and Canada) urban colonial experience. We are especially interested in specialist papers or general surveys on European colonial fortresses or cities in North America, their planning, social tissue, public administration and general development during the Early Modern period (before 1776).
The paper should be presented at the European Association of Urban Historians' Conference in Stockholm, August 2006.
For more information see the web page mention. The title of the session is: 'So close, yet so far away: European and colonial urban transactions, 1415-1776', under the supervision Prof. dr. Amélia Andrade (Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal) and Dr. Cátia Antunes (University of Leiden, The Netherlands).
