The Political Communication Division invites paper submissions or panel proposals for the 2006 convention in Dallas at the Marriott Quorum by the Galleria. The convention will be April 5-9, 2006. Submissions addressing the conference theme, "Our Family Values: Defining and Fostering Excellence in Communication Study, Education, and Performance” are especially welcomed. Please send four (4) copies of all papers or program proposals to the address below.
Papers and panels may also be submitted by email attachment in Word format (.doc at the end of the file) or as an .rtf file to jhendricks@sosu.edu. All panel proposals must use the program proposal form found on the SSCA web site. Go to the SSCA page for the panel proposal form.
Please follow these guidelines when submitting papers and proposals:
- Submit four copies of each competitive paper or panel proposal (panel proposal must use form).
- Include a detachable cover page that contains the title, author's name, institutional affiliation, mailing address, telephone number, fax number, email address, and faculty or student status. If a student paper please note on submission that you are a graduate student. Note that undergraduate papers are submitted under different guidelines and a different deadline.
- Include a 75-150 word abstract.
- Do not identify authors in the body of the paper.
- All panel proposals should contain the names and complete addresses of authors on a separate page. Panel submitters should also submit a title for the panel, the rationale for the panel, and titles and detailed abstracts for each paper and/or discussion topic for each participant of the panel.
Graduate students are especially encouraged to submit completed research papers. The top graduate student paper from the Political Communication Division will be submitted for consideration for the Southern States Communication Association's Bostrom Award, which goes to the best graduate student paper. All graduate student papers must be clearly identified. No graduate student paper will be considered for top student paper if a faculty member is one of the paper's authors.
Deadline for receipt of papers or panel submissions is September 15, 2005.
