Jeffery Johnson is a Professor of History at Villanova University, with Ph.D. from Princeton University; dissertation published as The Kaiser’s Chemists: Science and Modernization in Imperial Germany (UNC Press, 1990). He has also co-authored German Industry and Global Enterprise--BASF: The History of a Company (Cambridge University Press, 2004). His current research is on chemistry and society in modern Germany, and on chemical munitions in World War I and postwar arms control.
